Youth Group
We attended today's program at the Library for the Homeschoolers. I just wanted to say Thank You! What a great experience this will be. My daughter is extremely looking forward to next months meeting. My son is young and I understand doesn't quite reach your age requirement and I am grateful you are giving him a chance. I feel once he gets to do more hands on stuff he will truly enjoy it as well.. His curiosity is there for the program. The entire family is interested in Ham radio! ( All 4 of us). Yes... Building a Ham Radio would be a Wonderful Experience! Thank You once again!"

Dear Children, Educators, Families and Friends, Welcome to the Wonderful World of Ham Radio!

Licensed amateur radio operators, known as "hams," live all over the world, are male and female, and range in age from very young to very old.  There are 700,000 hams in the United States and almost 3 million world-wide.  Hams communicate with one another by transmitting voice, Morse code, digital text and pictures, even live video signals, (TV) by radio from one ham "station" to another, on land and at sea, in the air, and in space.

Ham radio is a wonderful vehicle to increase children's geographic knowledge as it provides endless opportunities to learn about and experience the interrelationships between people and the environment.  This increased awareness of location and  better understanding of place round the world nurtures a rich appreciation for unique cultural connections near and far.

Making and sharing new and old friendships and promoting international goodwill are life-long pursuits for many hams.  In our increasingly interdependent world, the wonderful world of ham radio celebrates  global commonalities and differences and reminds us that it truly is a small world after all.

Amateur Radio experiences are a motivating influence for many careers in computer sciences, consumer electronics, broadcast engineering, research sciences, medicine, telecommunications and more!

Amateur Radio enriches the lives of thousands of people as a way to meet and make friends, have fun and pursue a path of lifelong learning.

Amateur Radio provides a foundation in Wireless Technology Literacy so important to today's citizens. It also provides an interesting and positive alternative to video games.

Our radio club would like to extend to children who will be 10 yrs or older this year, a free associate membership. If you are interested, please download and complete the application below.

The club offers free tutoring in amateur radio fundamentals, and FCC license preparation. We also provide FCC license testing here, at the library 4 times each year.
